It depicts a human face wearing a fish or dolphin headdress. This is a Mid Century copy of the original which is made of stone. Central Veracruz. Middle to late Classic Period (500-900 AD). The original is featured at the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY in Mexico City.

This appears to have been made as an exterior architectural element. I found it in Mexico City.

I am QUECHQUEMITL, not a PONCHO. This Vintage Boho Chic pure wool hand loomed Cape or QUECHQUEMITL was one of my many unique vintage finds while searching through obscure places in the Greater Mexico City area. It's origin is Estado de Mexico, but the history of this garment is pre Hispanic and purely Mexican. Timeless Geometric Patterns of brown and grey against a soft cream background make for easy wardrobe coordination.
