Oil on Masonite Floral Still Life by Signe Rydin Palmblad. Signed lower right and dated "1941". Swedish/American 1870-1960
Born in Stockholm, she immigrated to America in 1896.
Signe began to paint in her middle age and studied with Elmer Fosberg at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Later, she studied with Finnish visiting painter, Akseli Gallen Kallela. She became very popular from the 1920's onward and was widely exhibited in Chicago.
One of her exhibits at the famous "Cafe Idrott", in 1930, featured 65 works and lasted an entire year.

Maurice Lebon
(1916-1998) was born in Quebec City and tutored by renowned painter, Francesco
Iacurto.
Working in oil, he
painted Quebec urban street scenes, landscapes and rural scenes. His work is in
several private collections and art galleries in Canada and Europe. Several
pieces can be found in the Collection of Quebec
City´s “Citadelle”.
Both Pierre Elliot
Trudeau and Brian Mulroney have acquired his works. Other collectors include
Pope John Paul II, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Queen Elizabeth II.
